About the Theme
The Hiryusai Committee collects candidates for and decides a theme every year, which creates a shared goal among the students in preparing for the festival.
This year's theme is "colour", and on this page, we attempt to define it and show you just how we came up with it.

This year's theme was chosen during the 2004 academic year.
Candidates for our theme were collected from the whole school in February. The following four candidates were selected from the numerous choices offered:
- whirlwind
- 彩 (Irodori, meaning colour)
- colour
- われ挑む、ゆえに我あり (I challenge myself, therefore I am - word play on "I think, therefore I am".)
These four candidate-themes were taken back to each class and a school wide poll followed.
The results were overwhelmingly in favour of "colour", which became our theme for the 2005 Hiryusai.
